Kim McCluskey first started paddling in the 1970s. As a young man, he was a hippie with a long blonde pony tail and a Volkswagen bus. In his thirties, he raised three children and became a chiropractor. In his fifties, responding to his passion for nature, adventure and paddling, he sold his chiropractic practice and began to guide paddling trips to remote places all over the world. Kim has led kayaking trips in Mongolia, Vietnam, India, Argentina, Greenland, France, China, Tibet, Iceland, Greece, Costa Rica, Chile, Bahamas and Brazil and trekking trips in Ladakh and Bhutan.
It’s hard to find someone more passionate about Iceland than our guide, Drew Brockett. He has traveled the country numerous times, seeking out the best waterfalls, unique historic sites, and has driven some of the most remote roads. From the international flavor of Reykjavik, to the quaint towns of the rest of the country, Drew and Icelandic friend and guide, Valdimar (Valdi) Harðarson Steffensen, will share with you the many natural wonders and inspiring vistas that make Iceland unforgettable. When Drew went to Iceland the first time, he knew he would go back again and again. His expertise and calm, easygoing manner will help you want to do the same. When he’s not travelling in Iceland, Drew loves helping people enjoy the Boundary Waters as the Outfitting Manager for Piragis Northwoods Company in Ely, MN.
